My Journey

I grew up in a small town in northern Minnesota and have always been an active person. Sports were a huge part of my life—I played softball, volleyball, golf, and, most importantly, ice hockey. When I wasn’t on the ice, I was outside playing with my older sister and younger brother, soaking up the sunshine at our family’s cabin, waterskiing, tubing, or fishing on the lake. My love for movement and adventure started early, and with that, so did my appreciation for good food. After long days outside, my mom always had the best meals ready for us—home-cooked food that nourished, satisfied, and brought our family together.

At 15, I made the big decision to move seven hours away from home to attend a hockey prep academy with my sister, chasing my dream of playing Division 1 hockey. Being away from my family at a young age was a challenge, but it was also one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I learned discipline, resilience, and the importance of taking care of myself—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Eventually, my family moved to the Twin Cities, and I transferred to a new high school with a structured academic system and a competitive hockey program. Fast forward to college—the moment I had worked so hard for had finally arrived. I was off to Clarkson University to play Division 1 hockey and study psychology, eager to take on new challenges. Balancing academics, hockey, and life as a student-athlete was not always easy, but the struggles I faced ultimately led me to some of the most important lessons of my life.

I realized that when the outside world feels chaotic, the best thing you can do is turn inward—prioritizing your health, your mindset, and the way you fuel your body. Nutrition became a non-negotiable for me. I saw firsthand how the food I ate directly impacted my energy, performance, mood, and overall well-being. When I started focusing on eating a variety of nutrient-dense, whole foods, everything changed. I felt stronger, more energized, and more in control of my health.

Cooking became more than just a necessity—it became my passion. Preparing nourishing meals felt like a form of self-care, a way to fuel not just my body but also my mind and soul. Through this journey, I’ve come to believe that food is one of the most powerful tools we have for healing, energy, and longevity.
